Review Tuesday | Makeup Forever Artist Shadow

Having oily, small eyelids and hooded-eyes, eyeshadow is really tricky for me. I need my eyeshadow to be matte and stay put throughout the day, plus, vibrant enough to show up on little space on my eyes. There was a point in which I ‘gave up’ eyeshadow, thinking it wasn’t for me, but then I bought myself Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette, and ended up discovering the fun of eyeshadow. For a while, it was the only eyeshadow I used, then, hundreds of youtube tutorials later, I thought; hey, let’s get myself another matte color!

There are so many brands to choose from, and so many palettes, too. But I wasn’t too keen on the idea of palette at the time, so single eyeshadow then. My final options fell to MAC and Makeup Forever, but researches led me to Makeup Forever Artist Shadow.

While Makeup Forever foundation and base product is often talked about, I feel like fewer spotlights have been given to their eyeshadow ranges. The Makeup Forever Artist Shadow comes in huge color range; around 210 shades with 5 different finishes. Price wise, it’s pricier than MAC but comes with more product (MAC is 1.5 g, MUFE is 2.2 g), which was quiet a deciding factor for me.

I picked three matte colors; Pink Brown (M-600), Chesnut (M-656), and Espresso (M-618). I use Pink Brown and Chesnut on the crease, while Espresso as eyeliner and outer corner of my eyes. MUFE claim high color pay-off, which I found to be true, they show uup well and true to color on my eyeslids, which color is somewhat darker than the rest of my face. Compared to my Too Faced eyeshadow, they last so much longer on my oily lids, around 4 hours before creasing. For matte eyeshadow, they’re exceptionally creamy and non-chalky, plus really blend-able. They do kick a little dust but since the pan is huge, you wouldn’t notice them even making a mess. In short, they perform like a dream.

4 Autumnal Lipsticks for Different Ocasion

 

I consider autumnal shades such as wine-red, burgundy, and pink-brown nude to be my favorite lipstick shades. There is something with their pigment that complements my skin tone really well. For that, I hoard quite a number this shade to the point that more than half of my lipstick stash is made of this color. Here I’m sharing you 4 options for autumnal lipsticks with 4 different formulas.

Makeup Forever Artist Plexi Gloss in Burgundy (full review); my very first berry lip product. This gloss is incredibly pigmented and glossy, always giving me a dramatic – in a good way -  bold lips without bringing my face down. For being a gloss, this lasts surprisingly long, fades into a lovely dark strawberry color after 4 hours mark. If you love juicy looking lips instead of matte ones, I highly recommend this.

Burberry Lip Velvet in Oxblood; If you are a regular reader of this blog, you’d know how emotionally invested I am in this lips, I think I’ve talked about it a hundred of times already. To save you from boredom, I will quickly list things that makes me love this lipstick; comfortable matte formula, incredible color, long-lasting, non-transfer, luxuriously classic yet modern packaging. Perfect for a night out when there’re lots of kissing cheeks involved.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Ruby (quick impression); I’ve been whipping this out a lot lately since I’ve been feeling lazy with my makeup. My fail proof, no brainer lip product for the moment because it is so easy to use, doesn’t even need a mirror, great when you need a quick instant boost to your face when you don’t feel like wearing too much makeup. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is known for its nourishing and hydrating formula, I’m not lucky that my lips aren’t going well with this, but if you found their formula to work well with you, this one is a lovely pick for slightly more autumnal shade.

Clinique Pop in Berry Pop; if you are looking for lipstick that is creamier but long-lasting and non-drying at the same time, this one is for you! With built-in primer, this lipstick is sure to last you a whole day, its creaminess might fool you to think this fades easily, but I found that’s not the case with this one. Berry Pop is simply described as ‘violets in Clinique official shade, if you want similar color that leans more toward pink and a tad bit brighter, you can try ‘Punch Pop’ instead.

On MUFE Artist Shadow

It surprised me sometimes how very few people talked about Makeup Forever. Sure I've tried only a couple items from them but none of them let me down so far. Their eye shadows; Artist Shadow, are brilliant, it's not everyday you got a matte eye shadow formula that works. With my hooded eyelids, a good matte eye shadow is a must. After searching high and low for one that works (not too patchy, not too powdery, and pigmented enough), I can say MUFE do their eye shadow right.

I will not dive in full review right now (it's coming soon) but the three that I got; pink brown, chesnut, and ,espresso work like a dream. They work both with and without primer but they don't fare as much on my oily lids without. They crease after 5th hour mark but since I'm yet to find an eye shadow that last on my lids, that's saying something.

Review: Makeup Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss 406 Burgundy

Makeup Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss has to be one of the most underrated lip product ever. With it's smack dab amazing quality, it's a wonder why people aren't talking more about this. This lip lacquer is described as 'A triple-impact lip gloss with buildable color and high-shine that stays put.' on MUFE's website.

The shade I picked is '406 Burgundy' , I don't think I need to explain the color since the name is pretty much self-explanatory. True to its claim, this gloss is very pigmented, one swipe gives you an opaque and rich color. They said the color is buildable, but when one dip is already enough to give me an intense color to fill in my whole lips, I do not see the need of building up. The finish is shiny without being too wet, but the shine gradually fades overtime into a somewhat satin finish.

Artist-plexi gloss is very lightweight, it doesn't dry my lips, nor it settle into fine lines. The formula is absolutely amazing, coupled with its longevity, which is around 5-6 hours with eating and constant drinking, I gotta say this really changed my standard of lip gloss! For me, this got to be my 'game changer' product. Beside its top notch formula, it opens my eyes for the wonder of dark, bold lips could do to my face.

The Sunday Face

Hullo! As I was sipping my daily fix of ice English Breakfast this morning, I was suddenly overcome with an urge to; put on your make-up right. now!  Which was weird because I have absolutely no plan of going out today. Autopilot did my body went and when I realized, I was already combing my lashes with my mascara (which I stupidly forgot to add in the picture above).

My base routine is very boring since I basically stay with same products since last year, and, yes, Bobbi Brown dominate my makeup stash, what can I do when they just get along well with my skin? Their cream eye shadow in 01 bone did a really great job in making my eye shadow more vivid, they crease after around 5 hours mark but to be fair, thanks to my oily mine of a face, nothing can stay without creasing on my lids. However, the eye shadow on my brow bone (away from the oiliness) stay for about 10 hours!

Makeup Forever Artist Shadow isn't getting a lot of love lately despite their outstanding performance because I'm trying to use out my TooFaced Natural Eyes Palette but I pulled them out this morning because I want something more simple and understated. Since I'm just staying at home, I keep the lips simple with MAC Cosmo, another thing in my Project Empty. Lastly, I'm still totally smitten with the spiciness that Voyage D'Hermes gives me.
